Empowerment of Women

CNFA’s mission is to stimulate economic growth and improve rural livelihoods through private-sector led efforts in order to benefit agriculture throughout the developing world.  Recognizing the critical role that both men and women play in agriculture, CNFA finds it imperative for programs to not only include women, but also to focus on empowering women as entrepreneurs in order to maximize impact on agricultural productivity, rural incomes, and household food security. Across its global programming, CNFA works to actively incorporate female entrepreneurs, owners, managers and producers into program foci, such as livestock, horticulture, cash crops, or staple crops activity implementation. With a gender mainstreaming lens, CNFA is designing new activities that speak specifically to the constraints and opportunities facing women in the agricultural sector. Below are some highlights of our previous and ongoing work to support women in agribusiness.
