Volunteer Impact

CNFA's philosophy is that the impact of Farmer-to-Farmer volunteers must be measured by the tangible change they make in the lives of farmers and small business owners around the world.

CNFA's value-chain approach targets each weak link standing between smallholder producers and a thriving marketplace, ensuring deep and long-lasting impact.

In numbers, CNFA has sent 1,782 volunteers since 1992 to work with host organizations worldwide. Volunteers have donated over 12,887 days, or over 35 years. Their efforts have leveraged over $9.6 million in professional services and benefited millions of potential beneficiaries both in the host country and back in their own communities in the United States.

Each assignment translates directly into increased incomes and healthier enterprises, both for farmers and small businesses. Our staff works directly with the organizations receiving Farmer-to-Farmer assistance to monitor the impact our volunteers are having. Increases in income, product sales and agricultural lending are simply a few of the data points we collect.
